The Beginning

How it started in Port Harcourt

In January 2019, Dr. Chidinma Ohadoma's father collapsed at home. He had unknowingly lived with severe hypertension for years. By the time he reached the hospital, his heart had already begun to fail. He passed within 72 hours.

"The tragedy was wholly preventable. A ₦500 blood pressure check would have identified the risk. A community health worker would have connected him to care."

— Chidinma Ohadoma, Founder

Dr. Chidinma gathered seven colleagues — doctors, nurses, a pharmacist, and two community health workers — and founded CarePathNG in the same quarter. Their mission: fight the silent epidemic of undiagnosed chronic illness quietly devastating Nigerian families.

What started as Saturday screening days at Mile 1 Market has since grown into a nationally operating non-profit reaching all 36 states, 48 certified lab partners, and over 12,500 lives screened.

Purpose

Purpose. Vision. Approach.

Our Mission

To reduce the burden of hypertension, diabetes, and hepatitis in Nigeria through accessible free screening, early diagnosis, affordable treatment referrals, and sustained health education — delivered with dignity to every community we enter.

Our Vision

A Nigeria where no one dies from a chronic condition they didn't know they had — and where every community has the knowledge and resources to actively manage their health, regardless of income or location.

Our Approach

Community-first. Evidence-based. Dignity-centred. We work through existing local structures — churches, markets, PHCs — to reach people where they already are, rather than waiting for them to come to us.

Core Values

What we stand for.

01

Equity

Healthcare is a fundamental human right, not a privilege. We fight to ensure access is equal for all Nigerians — urban and rural, rich and poor.

02

Compassion

Every person we serve is met with genuine empathy and dignity — not just a test result. Human connection is at the core of every interaction.

03

Excellence

We uphold the highest medical and ethical standards in every screening, every referral, and every partnership we build across Nigeria.

04

Community-First

Decisions are shaped by the communities we serve. Their voice, their leaders, and their existing structures guide every programme we design.

05

Transparency

Every naira of donor funding is accounted for, published, and traceable to specific patient outcomes. Accountability is non-negotiable.

06

Sustainability

We build lasting health capacity within communities — training local workers, partnering local labs, and ensuring impact long after we leave.

What We Screen For

Our Three Health Pillars

We specialise in three of the most underdiagnosed conditions affecting Nigerian communities — each of them silent, each of them treatable when caught early.

Silent Killer

Hypertension

Sub-Saharan Africa has the world's highest hypertension prevalence — and Nigeria leads the region. Known as the "silent killer," it strikes without warning. Our BP screening camps catch hypertension early and connect patients to life-saving care.

~46% of Nigerian adults are at risk
Rising Epidemic

Diabetes

Nigeria has over 11 million people living with diabetes — most undiagnosed. Our blood glucose screening, nutritional counselling, and management support target the rapidly growing crisis of Type 2 diabetes in both urban and rural communities.

11M+ Nigerians undiagnosed
Highly Preventable

Hepatitis B & C

Hepatitis B infects approximately 20 million Nigerians — many without knowing. Untreated, it leads to liver cirrhosis and cancer. Our rapid testing, combined with vaccination drives and counselling, breaks the chain of transmission in communities.
