Founded in 2019 after our director lost her father to undiagnosed hypertensive heart disease, CarePathNG exists to ensure no Nigerian family endures the same preventable grief.
In January 2019, Dr. Amina Okafor's father collapsed at home. He had unknowingly lived with severe hypertension for years. By the time he reached the hospital, his heart had already begun to fail. He passed within 72 hours.
The tragedy was wholly preventable. A ₦500 blood pressure check would have identified the risk. A community health worker visit would have connected him to care. A pharmacist partnership would have kept him on medication.
Dr. Amina gathered seven colleagues and founded CarePathNG — a grassroots organisation to fight the silent epidemic quietly devastating Nigerian families.
To reduce the burden of hypertension, diabetes, and hypertensive heart disease in Nigeria through accessible screening, affordable treatment, and sustained health education.
A Nigeria where no one dies from a chronic condition they didn't know they had — and where every community has the knowledge and resources to manage their health.
Community-first. Evidence-based. Dignity-centred. We work through existing local structures — churches, markets, PHCs — to reach people where they already are.
